چکیده

A key notion bridging the gap between quantum operator algebras [22] and vertex operator algebras [4][8] is the definition of the commutativity of a pair of quantum operators (see section 2 below). This is not commutativity in any ordinary sense, but it is clearly the correct generalization to the quantum context. The main purpose of the current paper is to begin laying the foundations for a complete mathematical theory of commutative quantum operator algebras. We give proofs of most of the relevant results announced in [22], and we carry out some calculations with sufficient detail to enable the interested reader to become proficient with the algebra of commuting quantum operators. We dedicate this paper to the memory of Feza Gürsey.

R-commutative Geometry and Quantization of Poisson Algebras

An r-commutative algebra is an algebra A equipped with a Yang-Baxter operator R:A ⊗ A → A ⊗ A satisfying m = mR, where m:A ⊗ A → A is the multiplication map, together with the compatibility conditions R(a⊗ 1) = 1 ⊗ a, R(1 ⊗ a) = a ⊗ 1, R(id ⊗m) = (m ⊗ id)R2R1 and R(m ⊗ id) = (id ⊗ m)R1R2. The basic notions of differential geometry extend from commutative (or supercommutative) algebras to r-comm...

Some Classical and Quantum Algebras

We discuss the notion of a Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) algebra and give several classical examples from differential geometry and Lie theory. We introduce the notion of a quantum operator algebra (QOA) as a generalization of a classical operator algebra. In some examples, we view a QOA as a deformation of a commutative algebra. We then review the notion of a vertex operator algebra (VOA) and show t...

Introduction to vertex operator algebras II

This is the second of three lectures on introduction to vertex operator algebras. In this lecture, we shall continue Professor Dong’s lecture to present more fundamental properties of vertex operator algebras. From the mathematical point of view, a vertex operator algebra formally resembles a Lie algebra because the Jacobi identity is used as one of the main axioms. For the Lie algebra aspect o...
